Michiru fell silent, but I knew her focus was still on me.

Gosh, why would I matter this much to her? In our small world she was about the cutest girl on the planet, and I may have heard a dozen guys in our class talking drivel about how they wish Michiru was their girl. On top of being the cutest, she scored straight A's, and lacrosse and soccer team captains were crawling over each other to get her on their teams. Yes some people do have everything - and I am nobody. Well, maybe I wouldn't say nobody, but just regular.

 As for me, I've never had crush on Michiru to this day. But evidently (though inadvertently) I'd skipped a date, and had left her waiting. Geez, wasn't it raining yesterday? Hopefully she wasn't shivering through a cold shower or anything. But she didn't look offended at all, just worried if I was still willing and respond to the "announcement," whatever that is. 

I needed to say I was willing. Otherwise, it would be unmanly. There was absolutely no way that I would be her "Liege, " which she soon would find out, but we couldn't care less about that now.
